ENTROIDO ON FIRE!!!

Hello folks!

In this post I'm going to talk about a very famous celebration, called "Entroido", that is equivalent to "carnival" in the English language. This celebration tooks place every February in Galicia, but not only in Galicia, because this celebration is famous in all the world.
Here, in my village (Aguiño), the Entroido is not a very importat event from the cultural point of view, because we don't have the same traditions as a village situated inside Galicia, like Lugo, Ourense, etc...
Here, there are not the famous "peliqueiros", instead of that, people enjoy the Entroido disguised of "choqueiro", that is a costume made of workwear and a mask. The "choqueiros" are all the day throwing firecrackers and breaking mailboxes with their friends.
But here we have a very important and delicious tradition, this tradition is the Entroido's food.
In the Entroido's week, all families prepare a series of desserts, these desserts are: pancakes, bagels, ears (not human ears) and much more.
In the photos below, you can see my mother cooking pancakes.

I know you are drooling, if you want to taste them you only have to come to my house and ask if there is any one, but you have to come quickly, because I'm a pancakes devourer!!!
I didn't dress up this year, because I don't like customes, but when I was in the primary school, teachers force us to make our own customes with garbage bags and other things, like goggles and wigs.
When we were dressed, we went out to make a parade on the streets of the village.
Here you have a photo of me in the Entroido of  2009:

I hope you liked it, see you in the next post!!!

Bye!
